Trinjan and Watermans have joined to create an opportunity within the community for developing Asian women in the creative and performance arts. The aim is to provide access to a range of creative skills from script writing and editing through to directing and acting to eventually mounting the production on stage. It will provide them an ideal platform to express themselves and assist them in realising their full potential. Trinjan Awarded BT COMPUTER AND GOES ONLINE
Trinjan has been awarded an NEC internet ready PC and a contribution towards one year’s BT Total broadband access as part of the BT Community Connections award scheme. In addition Microsoft® Office 2007 software is included as part of the winning package.

The scheme, now in its fourth year, has awarded more than 5,000 IT packages to thousands of community groups across the UK, benefiting over five million people, opening up a world of marketing, training, recruitment, fundraising, communications and networking possibilities to recipients.

The Trinjan Group was among thousands that entered the award scheme across the UK and impressed judges with their ideas on how a PC would benefit their group immediately and the wider local community long term.

The group plans to use the internet to promote their services to recruit new members from the local community. The PC will allow the group to prepare the promotional material for their fundraisers which will enhance the services to local residents.

Mohinder Dosanjh of Trinjan said: We are absolutely delighted with our BT Community Connections award.  We motivate and engage women from the black and ethnic communities by providing a platform to network and socialise. Now, we will be able to reach women from all areas to share their experience and knowledge with like- minded women.  We will be able to communicate with them via email and regular online newsletters will keep them informed of upcoming talks in our monthly meetings.

Beth Courtier, head of BT’s charity programme said: “This award scheme aims to give as many people as possible access to the internet and allows groups to develop their projects using easier and more effective methods. Following the overwhelming success of BT Community Connections in previous years, BT is delighted to continue making a difference to many more community groups throughout the area who wouldn’t normally have access to the world wide web.
